Joe's 1992 Camaro RS
Going on 6 years without driving this damn car. A new engine is going together right now along with a new trans. Engine will be a 406 and trans will be a 4R70W. It's going to be a nitrous engine, sorry no fancy turbo here. I'll post updates here as work progresses.
About my Camaro
I got this car back in highschool. It was my daily driver for a few years before it went boom. I had Livernois build me a 377 but it didn't live long, basically ate itself. It never did fully kill itself, the rear end broke at US131 Dragway in Martin, MI 6 years ago and that was the last time the car drove. I took the engine apart and salvaged the crank, rods, cam, and upper end (heads, intake, etc) but the main caps were walking and the pistons were junk. I'm reusing the heads on my 406 but that's about all that will be reused. The T56 trans that was in the car is up for sale right now and is being replaced with a Ford 4R70W auto that will have a full manual valve body and brake. Rear end has already been replaced with a DLS 9" equipped with 42 spline axles and spool. Driveshaft is a new DTS. Besides all that, I'm switing to fuel injection using a AEM EMS.
After the rear axle broke and I took the car apart, I took it to Stenod Racing in Troy, MI for a 10 point roll cage, Spohn subframe connectors, and a BMR Xtreme torque arm. Once I got it back I replaced the windshield and hatch glass with Percy's Speedglass, but I'm not happy with the way it turned out, I'm sure I'll be having a professional shop replace the speedglass again in a few years. I still have the Simmons 17" wheels for the street but now have a set of Draglite wheels for the track. Track tires are MT Pro Drag 29.5X10 rear and MT Sportsman skinnies up front.
